Grand Canyon University RN to BSN, MSN Bridge, and Master of Nursing Degrees

Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon University began with the vision of a couple of faculty and students after the demise of their own Christian University in New Mexico. That vision remained unfulfilled until 1940 when the group came into contact with Pastor L.D. White from Calvary Baptist Church during a business meeting. Pastor White was so taken with the idea of a Christian College in Arizona that he offered a silver dollar as the very first donation to the new college. Many others followed his lead and made donations for the new school. Some gave change they kept in mason jars while others opened their checkbooks and gave generous amounts. Though several were enthusiastic at first, their joy of the idea began to wan when they were met with several struggles along the way. Many times discouragement was felt but the group traversed on with strength and faith.

Their faith was rewarded in 1949 with the opening of their doors to 93 students in Prescott, Arizona. In 1951 the University was moved to Phoenix, Arizona, though it was a struggle they remained confident that Grand Canyon University would become a success and it has. Since the 1980's their academic programs have flourished with the addition of their nursing, business and performing arts programs as well as, their masters in education and business.

Grand Canyon's College of Nursing and Health Sciences

Programs such as the RN to BSN and the MSN Bridge are just a sample of the nursing degree programs that GCU has to offer. Through the College of Nursing, students can settle in to a nursing degree program suited to their lifestyle. Utilizing an academic and clinical based system with a liberal arts background that also fosters Christian values, the College of Nursing and health Sciences prepares students to be well educated and skilled nurses.

Boasting excellence in medical studies, Grand Canyon can be proud of the many graduates they have sent forward into graduate studies at some of the most widely recognized medical schools in the country. Students entering into a nursing degree program at GCU, such as the RN to BSN or MSN Bridge, can expect the same educational standards.

An online nursing degree

Grand Canyon is well known for its online nursing degree programs. Utilizing their "Cohort-Based" system, GCU's nursing students will work together through a virtual environment to complete studies. Research papers, exams, and student projects are all completed through Grand Canyon's unique "Angel" format.

Students unfamiliar with online college learning systems can take heart in knowing that GCU understands, has prepared all of the instructional information needed to teach students how to use and interact with their system. If a student should find a question about how to utilize the system, they can take comfort in knowing that instructors and fellow students will be just a click away with answers.
