University of Phoenix College of Nursing
Boasting an incredible 200 campus locations across the country, University of Phoenix also provides complete online degree options. As the largest private university in the country, the University of Phoenix takes pride in the achievements it has accomplished since its beginning in 1976.
The University of Phoenix is Accredited
Accreditation is important when deciding what school to attend. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of North Central Association, the UoP is proud to offer its students the very best in education. The University of Phoenix understands how important accreditation is and how having a degree from an accredited school can drastically affect a graduate’s future.
Students attending the UoP nursing programs can also rest easy. Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs receive special accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The UoP also maintains affiliation with the Western Institute of Nursing and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Tuition and Financing Options
No matter what type of education a student receives, it does not come without cost. However, it is always comforting to know that the school you attend is doing all it can to try and keep those costs down.
As of July 1, 2010, the University of Phoenix will be announcing price changes. Costs of an education at UoP will vary by program and geography, but options to cover costs are available from financial aid, student loans, and even grants and scholarships funds.
Although it would be impossible to list all of the financing options a student has, some of the more commonly used are:
- Cash plans - Pay for one course at a time, rather than an entire semester.
- Third Party Billing - Many employers offer tuition coverage as a benefit to its employees. The University of Phoenix is happy to bill directly to a third party, like your employer.
- Private Loans - The University of Phoenix will work with you to find a suitable lender to finance your education. Many students are happy to find out that some of the national lenders that work with the UoP offer great interest rates and easy payment plans.
- Federal Financial Aid - Student loans, Pell Grants, Perkins Loans, and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants are only a few of the government options available.
- Military Plans - Are you or your spouse a member of the U.S. Armed Forces? Great news! You may very well qualify for special tuition assistance.
Many students do not realize the number of scholarships available. In fact, a recent study showed that most students do not even search for scholarships that they may qualify for. Many claimed they thought scholarships were only for the brightest and smartest students. That idea is just simply not true and scholarships are available for a great number of reasons. Some of the scholarships available are:
- AARP Foundation – This scholarship is focused towards giving older adults the opportunity to stay in touch with today’s workforce needs.
- AMVETS – Offering scholarship funding to Veterans and those currently enlisted.
- The First Chance® Scholarship Program – Offers up to full tuition funding for individuals dedicated to improving their lives. Knowing that many people in the U.S. struggle in impoverished areas and may have little chance of attending college, the UoP and actor Tom Arnold created this program to aid those people.
- Goodwill – Provides assistance to disabled individuals and those who may have faced obstacles preventing them from attending college.
- Kids' Chance Scholarships – This scholarship fund was created to help the children of those who are unable to send their children to college, due to work related accidents.
- March of Dimes Nursing Scholarship – Is offered to students seeking to enroll in the LPN to BSN and the MSN Healthcare Education.
The list of scholarship possibilities is huge, and nearly every single student could qualify for at least one. For more information on scholarships that you may qualify for, see your program advisor or school admissions office.
